So, what are the 3 Principles?
The Three Principles were uncovered by the late Sydney Banks in 1973. Sydney was an ordinary man who had an extraordinary insight. His insight in to this new paradigm for psychology has already transformed the lives of thousands of people.
The 3 Principles are:
Mind: the Universal mind – the formless, spiritual energy of the universe which is constant and unchanging - it is the intelligence that runs through all life... from the acorn that 'knows' how to become an oak tree, to the moon creating the tides, to the natural curiosity of a 3 year-old, to the self-healing abilities of the body. The personal mind, in contrast, is in a perpetual state of change.
Thought: Thought is the power to think. It is neutral in itself, so we create our personal experience of reality - from the inside-out. Our individual thoughts are like an artist's paintbrush as they create a personal picture of the reality we live in. Our feelings are like a barometer that gives us immediate feedback about the quality of our thinking, moment by moment. So our thoughts and feelings are engaged in a constant 'dance' together.
Consciousness: the power of awareness that enables us to experience the reality we create through our thinking and the ability to be aware of our own thinking.
Innate health and inherent wisdom
Once we have felt a deep realization or had an insight in to how all reality is created, the nature of it's source and how we personally experience our reality, we are able to access real freedom to make effortless change, to recover from setbacks with much more resilience and experience happiness, peace of mind and a deeper sense of connection with others. We all have innate health and inherent wisdom built in to our 'system' to guide us through everyday life - this 'common sense' kind of wisdom is buoyant in nature - it always wants to resurface but we tend to keep it submerged by the weight of our personal thinking (like a beach ball being pushed under water) and the fears we create and by the general misunderstanding that our experience of life is created from the outside-in.
Insight
Insight, or new thought, is a natural occurrence once we understand how to 'get out of our own way'. These insights may come at any moment - they may be hugely profound or entirely practical! Insight is the real precursor to making any meaningful and lasting behaviour change - and once we think differently about an issue, we can make changes that seem surprisingly effortless - and easy to sustain.
There are many helpful 3 Principles resources and recordings available online, plus an expanding range of books - including Sydney's.
