The 3 Principles point to a simple but profound understanding of how we experience life.
This understanding has been changing lives for over four decades in the fields of education, mental health, business, medicine, the criminal justice system, youth and community projects, addiction treatment programmes, social care and housing, and homelessness.
These principles help us to understand how and where our experience is formed, moment-by-moment. As they work in unison, the principles can explain where every feeling comes from - whether we experience joy or sadness, love or fear, hope or despair. We all have the ability to access mental wellbeing, exactly as we are, right now, because mental wellbeing is our natural state. We all have unlimited access to our innate health and inherent wisdom once we know how to 'drop' back in to this state, and with this understanding we are able to 'show up' in our everyday lives with more happiness, resilience and compassion.
So why do we all get so stuck? We have all been innocently perpetuating an 'outside-in' paradigm where we believe that our experience of life is dependant on our circumstances, relationships, past events, future hopes, financial security and so on. We become 'destination addicts', imagining that once we have reached a certain destination or goal (the right promotion/ partner/ lifestyle/ appearance/ parenting/ finances) we will feel happy and find peace of mind and yet this is rarely the case.
The 3 Principles point to the 'inside-out' nature of the human experience. This understanding can explain why we get in our own way so much, and also reveal how we can get back 'alongside' ourselves. We do not need to learn any new skills or theories or take up any new practices to do this because the 3 Principles are already operating within each one of us, whether we are aware of this fact or not!
